Local artist (and member of the Mawgan Porth Surf Lifesaving Club) Toby Ray has raised an incredible £2640 by running a prize draw to win one of his beautiful paintings.
Toby’s acrylic painting of a Mawgan Porth sunset was on display all weekend at his art exhibition in Mawgan Porth Village Hall. So many visitors asked about the club and showed interest, which was amazing to hear! The painting (worth £600) will be making its way to the lucky winner once the prize draw has been drawn on Sunday 7th April.
The prize draw has had a huge impact and shows just how much this club is needed and wanted by the local community. We are continuing to raise funds but this huge input will help massively towards getting some of the vital equipment we need to grow the club further.
Toby’s paintings are loved by locals and tourists alike. Being a lifelong surfer, his paintings depict the beautiful North Cornwall coastline where he lives, usually with a perfect wave breaking at one of his favourite surf spots. Toby usually paints en plein air and you can almost hear the crashing of the waves and the salty air pinprick your skin as you gaze into one of his innovatively composed Cornish seascapes.
If you want to see Toby painting you can often spot him at Mawgan Porth, Porthcothan or Treyarnon Bay (in all weathers!). You can view his work here www.tobyray.co.uk.
Thanks so much to Toby, and to everyone who supported this campaign – we are very grateful!
